Typical Studebaker Front-Fender Repairs: What kind of fender can be saved? See the repair of a very rusty Hawk fender.
Installing a new Edelbrock 4-bbl carb on a Studebaker AFB Intake Manifold: (late ’62-’64)
*Note: While this article pertains to an original AFB manifold, you can modify a 2bbl, or a WCFB manifold to also work. These converted 2bbl manifolds are available from SASCO, and modifying a WCFB manifold is pretty easy also.
Studebaker Steering Bellcrank: Center Pin Rebuilding
***note: this is for pre-'63 type center pins, using needle bearings and not bushings.
Paint Formula Page: Updated (25 formulas): A collection of "modern formulas" closely matching original Studebaker Colors. I am always looking for more formulas or original parts to color match. I am trying to get as close as possible to the original colors in shade, hue, metallic content etc...to facilitate accurate restorations, and to make these formulas available to Studebaker restorers everywhere.
Typical Studebaker Dash Switch Repair: This page shows a couple Studebaker Dash switches taken apart- so you backyard mechanics can see what you will be getting into. These switches are not too difficult to repair. The most common ailments are age, burnt/corroded contacts, weak springs, or a warped insulator that prevents good contact.
1955 Studebaker Ross Steering Box Rebuild: I have rebuilt several Ross steering boxes over the last several years of working on Studes. They are not too difficult for one with average mechanical ability. There are a few special tools that are a big help- but not absolutely necessary. The Ross box was used for many years- and it's design changed very little from 1952-1962. This page will give you a good idea of what you would run into during this job.
Dana Models 27 and 44 Rear Axle assembly: Assembling a Dana Model 27 or 44 Tapered Axle- and setting the endplay. This technical page was written in response to a fellow NG member from the Alt.Autos.Studebaker Newsgroup. If you have never visited the Newsgroup, it is a great resource for information about the care and feeding of your pet Studebaker.
1955-1958 Studebaker Chassis Manual: Scans of Major assemblies such as Steering, Brakes and Clutch linkage. These scans will help in the assembly and disassembly of many Studebaker components. These assemblies remained unchanged for many years- so they can be helpful for model years 1952- 1966 also.
Studebaker Air Conditioning Part 2:: After installing several different AC setups to various Studebakers, I believe this to be the "best" way to add AC to your V-8 equipped Studebaker. Many of the ideas apply to 6-cylinder Studebakers also. Included in this feature, is adding a Delco "one-wire" alternator to your AC setup.
Seat Belts For Studebakers: Information about mounting modern retractable seat belts in your Studebaker. Car shown is a GT Hawk, but the same procedures will work with most any Studebaker
1961 Technical Information Index: Contains pages that cover information about 1961 Studebakers.
Studebaker 3-Speed w/Overdrive Schematic and Troubleshooting: 1956-1963 Cars and Trucks
1957-1958 McCulloch VS-57 Superchargers: Download (2) .PDF files that contain a 24 page factory brochure covering the McCulloch VS-57 Supercharger.
1962-64 GT Hawk Tachometer wiring diagram: Wiring diagram for GT Hawks equipped with the standard tachometer- using the "rectangular" sending unit.
1956-1964 Studebaker Hawk Clock Repair: Procedures for repairing your factory clock. The procedure could be used for other Studebaker clocks also, as the design and operation was similar.
Air Conditioning for Studebaker Cars: Procedures, Parts and Materials need for installing AC on the Typical Studebaker.
Ray-Lin Restoration's Studebaker Projects:
Follow the progress of some of the Studebakers being redone at Ray-Lin Restoration and Body Shop. Not just resto's, but some daily everyday maintainance and bodywork to keep those Studes looking good and driving like new.
1960 Champ Pick-up "Driver" Restoration Project pages: I brought home my new "Ugly Truck" on May 30th 1999. In reworking the truck to make it my Daily-driver and tow vehicle, I have made up some pages showing the progress. This will include: floor replacement, engine rebuild and install, wiring harness (probably custom built), brakes, undercarriage/engine compartment refinishing, and the basic "stuff" I'll run into getting it drivable. The exterior bodywork and painting will be completed later as I use the truck. This section will change pretty quickly as I work on the truck, So bookmark it and check back often.
